Copywriting

Superstars

I wrote copy for this recruitment campaign for FortisBC’s two new customer service centres. We created attention-getting, “Superstar” themed ads for commuter newspapers (Metro, 24), community newspapers, job hunting websites, and drive-time radio. As a result, the FortisBC Careers web page received over 20,000 hits and about 6,000 applications for the advertised positions.

Make Yuck Useful

The offering was renewable natural gas from FortisBC. The target audience was eco-conscious consumers who would pay a premium for environmentally friendly energy. The creative concept was … lovable waste-eating bacteria? As copy writer, I helped FortisBC deliver a multi-faceted campaign including a web page, print and web banner advertising, bill inserts, and joint promotions with the City of Vancouver.

Hook, Line and DinnerWhitecap Books

I wrote media releases, author bios, catalogue copy, and information sheets for cookbooks, children’s books, lifestyle, gardening, and travel titles. I wrote and designed the Hook, Line and Dinner flyer to promote Whitecap’s seafood cookbooks to seafood retailers. The mail-out was successful, resulting in several new accounts, including at least one customer who ordered every book featured on the flyer.
